Corby Business Academy

Corby Business Academy is led by Associate Principal Janina Taylor, It was opened by the Brooke Weston Trust in 2008.

Its motto is ‘Care enough to Challenge enough’ and everyone within the academy has a ‘can do’ attitude.

The academy has developed many links with local businesses and enterprises which has lead to many opportunities for its students who leave fully ready for the world of work or further study.

It also has created a vibrant music department with hundreds of its students choosing to play an instrument and become a member of one the academy’s many successful bands.  Its Senior Concert Band has performed on the national stage and goes on an annual European Tour.

Its sports teams also compete exceptionally well, with many other extracurricular opportunities on offer at the end of the academy day.

The library, which is led by celebrated school librarian Amy McKay, who was awarded the School Librarian of the Year title in 2016/17, also runs many innovative events to ensure that all students develop a love of reading

    We are currently recruiting for the above position and welcome applicants to apply for this post by submitting an Academy application form.

    As a member of our Learning Support Department your role would be to support these students within the Academy’s Unit Provision.  Duties will involve academic support, personal development and personal care including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, administration of medication and manual handling.  Training will be provided so prior experience is desirable but not essential.

    The ideal candidate will have experience, excellent organisational skills, be able to show initiative and will have the capacity to work with others to raise achievement through motivating and inspiring students across the curriculum.  You will require a minimum of grade C in GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.

    Corby Business Academy is seeking a full time laboratory technician.  The post holder will be responsible for working within the faculty that teaches Science and Sport to students aged 11-18, including A level subjects.

    Your duties will include preparing materials and apparatus when required for demonstrations and practical work, for a team of up to 11 science staff, as well as organising the running of 2 prep rooms.  An interest in education and working with young people is of paramount importance to this role.

    A science degree is desirable, but those with at least 2 A Levels will be considered. You will have previous laboratory experience, good numeracy and literacy skills, and an awareness of laboratory H&S issues.  The Academy would like experienced candidates as well as those looking for a route into teaching to apply for this post.

    Corby Business Academy provides the Secondary Specialist Provision for students with Severe to Moderate Learning Difficulties and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties for the local area. The equivalent to a Special Needs School the provision has been judged by the Local Authority as Outstanding for the last 3 years. We are an Academy with excellent facilities.  Since opening in September 2008, we have been over-subscribed.  The Academy’s Unit Provision is able to address the needs of 75 students with special educational needs ranging from Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties to Moderate Learning Difficulties and ASD.

    We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and energetic teacher to be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of an appropriate curriculum for students in these provisions.  You will play a key role in this facility including managing support staff and liaising with mainstream staff to include students from the provisions in mainstream lessons should this be appropriate.
