Gretton Primary Academy awarded £8,000 grant

Gretton Primary Academy has been awarded an £8,000 grant from the ‘Tesco Bags of Help’ scheme to redevelop the old pond area into a stage with seating and a storytelling area.

The Parents/School Association (PSA) originally applied for the funding last year. The school was then shortlisted along with other local schools and organisations for a chance to win a grant for an environmental and green space project.

Customers at Corby Tescos were given tokens at the till and they used them to vote for their favourite project.  The school soon hopes to get underway with the improvements that will see the old pond area redesigned to become an outside classroom, completed with a storyteller chair, a performing arts stage and sensory landscaped area.

Principal Jane Macdonald said ‘We would like to say a huge thank you to the PSA for putting Gretton forward for this funding, to everyone who voted for us and particularly to Tesco - this will be a fantastic resource for our children and we cannot wait to get started.’
