KSA launches prefect system

Key Stage 4 and 5 students at Kettering Science Academy have been appointed as prefects to give them more responsibility and act as role models to their peers.

A total of 15 students, from Years 10 to 12 have been appointed.  They will be involved in the day to day running of the school by reminding students of Academy expectations and rules and will help at after-school events including parents’ and open evenings. Each term there will also be a key focus that they will reinforce to their fellow students.

Teacher, Mr Horne, who set up the scheme, said ‘We received a large number of applications of a high standard. Only those from  Key Stage 4 and 5 could apply as they understand what we want to achieve as an Academy. They will gain huge amounts from the new role and take on more responsibility which will help prepare them for life after school. They will also be able to improve their interaction and communication skills. The initiative will develop a new strand of student leadership while ensuring that our expectations are being reinforced.’
