Corby Business Academy

Corby Business Academy is led by Principal Simon Underwood. It was opened by the Brooke Weston Trust in 2008. Corby Business Academy is a mainstream school with a Special Educational Needs unit provision for children, for example, with speech, language and communication difficulties, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties. 

The motto for Corby Business Academy is ‘Care enough to challenge enough’ and to encourage all of our students to 'aim high'. The Academy has a close-knit community with everyone working together to ensure that all students receive high quality education, care and support to achieve their aspirations.

The academy has developed many links with local businesses and enterprises, which has led to many opportunities for its students who leave fully ready for the world of work or further study.

Corby Business Academy also has created a vibrant music department with hundreds of its students choosing to play an instrument and becoming a member of one of the Academy’s many successful bands.  Its Senior Concert Band has performed on the national stage and goes on an annual European Tour.

Its sports teams also compete exceptionally well, with many other extracurricular opportunities on offer at the end of the academy day.

The library runs many innovative events to ensure that all students develop a love of reading.

    Corby Business Academy is looking to add to its team of Exam Invigilators in preparation for student assessments. Our team of invigilators ensure that all assessments/examinations at the Academy are conducted in line with regulations.

    Your hours will be based on the needs of the academy around the exams we are holding at that time, therefore flexibility is essential.

You will also assist in the promotion, direction, and oversight of high standards of teaching and learning, pupil achievement and progression through effective inclusion for pupils who display behaviour for learning difficulties in conjunction with the pastoral team.

    Corby Business Academy are looking to expand our cover team. We require a self-motivated, flexible candidate to join a dynamic and enthusiastic team. Our Curriculum Support Officers are key members of our team. They make a valuable contribution across the academy ensuring that students continue to learn in a supported environment when a dedicated class teacher is unavailable for the period.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Supervise students on a lesson-by-lesson basis in departments across the Academy.
    • Ensure students remain on task and make progress during their lessons.
    • Assist students with their work, helping them understand tasks and supporting them in their learning.
    • Manage student behaviour and follow up on good and poor behaviour issues according to Academy procedures and policies.
    • Be available for tasks and deployment for such things as: accompanying Academy trips, workings with students with SEN, invigilating examinations, collecting and displaying work.
    • There may be a requirement to lead a tutor group.
