BWA stages Art and DT show

The amazing Art and DT work of GCSE and Sixth Form students has been showcased at Brooke Weston Academy's annual show.

The event, held in the Teaching School featured fine art, photography, 3D art, sculpture and textiles while upstairs the display was devoted to the DT department, with a huge variety of educational toys, lamps, models and prototypes showing off the different media used in the department.

Parents were invited along to the viewing and refreshments were provided by Year 10 Food Preparation and Nutrition students who had made 17 different sorts of canapes for guests to enjoy. They had spent all day preparing the food which included chocolate dipped meringues, savoury cakes with herb frosting and mini doughnuts.

Food Technology teacher, Natasha Chiremba said: 'The students have all worked so hard and have produced really highly skilled dishes with little help and the outcomes were incredible with a lot of different skills on display. This is really good practice for them for their exam assessment next year.'

The whole Art and DT show was very well received and tutor groups and teachers have been visiting the show to see the work of our very talented young artists and designers.
