Introduction to Latin - led by Angela dix 
 

Session 1: This first session is aimed at those teachers who have not had the initial training from Classics for All to introduce Latin. We will look at the benefits of teaching Latin, the resources available and how we can enthuse students to want to start learning Latin. 

Session 2: In this  session, we will look specifically at teaching Latin using the Minimus scheme, paying particular attention to the differences between Latin and English and the issues around pronunciation.

JAM Coding - KS1 & KS2 - Led by James green
 

An interactive and practical session to build knowledge and confidence of the subject, and give a range of direct links to computing and the real world. 

These training sessions will look at the importance of teaching computing as a stand alone subject, so the three strands digital literacy, computing and IT are all covered. We will look at how to have fun with other hardware so participants can see a direct output from a coding input.

Science, maths and data handling - led by sally spicer
 

This training session will be practical and interactive, drawing on science investigations that have cross curricular value for contextualising the statistics elements of the maths curriculum. It will draw on research and evidence informed good practice alongside consideration of national policy expectations.

early writing from eyfs and into year 1 - led by Rachel mortlock 
 

The course will look at how children learn to write from age 3-6. Attendees will gain an understanding of the skills and knowledge required to become an early writer and how a supportive learning environment and skilled adults can support them. Practical ideas to develop writing skills will be considered alongside understanding the physical skills, ideas and language required to become a confident independent writer.

Engaging with text through drama (1) - led by Leigh wolmarans 

The aim of the course is to share a range of drama conventions and techniques that you can use to engage young people in the text that they are working with. The training will be over three sessions and it will be flexible to the needs of the people in the room. 

Session 1: Looks at some of the disciplines that can be taught in your class to prepare them to use drama to engage with text, using their body, face and voice to develop character. Explore rehearsal room techniques and conventions that can be applied practically in any classroom. Task set to complete back at school.

This session will consider at how different texts and stories can be used in RE. It will look at how texts and stories can be used in different ways through the RE curriculum to help with children's knowledge and help them make progress in different key stages. This session will examine how immersion in art and artefacts of an historical period can enhance and improve the delivery of the curriculum. The content will reflect how using key visual images and primary sources to enhance and bring the periods to life. Session 2: We will reflect on the work that has happened in class since the last session and consider lessons that have been learnt. We will also select texts that you are working on so that the training is relevant to the work you’re doing in class. There will be a second task to complete within schools.

Making the Most Effective Use of Digimaps in Our Geography Teaching - Led by Darren Bailey
 

The course will cover the use of Digimap for Schools, offering teachers the opportunity to have hands-on use of the software. The training will show the full capabilities of the software and how it can be linked to not just geography, but across the whole curriculum at KS1 & 2.

Using Key texts to Develop Effective EYFS Curriculum - Led by Rachel Mortlock & Liz Willis
 

This session will explore the effective practice in the use of high quality texts in EYFS and will provide practical examples of how to use texts to develop early language, reading and writing skills. It will consider the recent DfE publication ‘The reading framework’- Teaching the foundations of literacy DfE July 2021’ and how this might be implemented within EYFS.

Music for KS1 & KS2 (2 Sessions) - Led by Sue Nicholls 
 

Music for KS1 (AM): This training course will be delivered as a practical workshop, introducing accessible material for those teaching at EYFS and KS1. The content will reflect the requirements of the Statutory Framework, the National Curriculum and support incremental provision. We will focus on the strands of singing, playing and performing with particular emphasis on developing improvising and composing skills, in order to achieve successful creative outcomes.

Developing Geographical Skills - Led by Nell SEal  

A hands on course which begins by considering each of the geographical skills in turn (vocabulary, graphicacy, enquiry, maps, critical thinking and fieldwork). We go on to explore i) what your immediate school locality offers in terms of being able to use it to develop geographical skills. Moving towards music leadership - Led by Sue Nicholls
 

This course will develop the role of the music subject leader by exploring ways to deliver the EYFS and Primary music curricula more effectively.
