Developing questioning and feedback to deepen thinking and to check for understanding - Led by David Turner
Questioning, dialogue and ‘appropriate discussion’ for learning are in every teacher’s toolkit and they also lie at the heart of the Ofsted evaluation of curriculum delivery. Great dialogue, talk and questioning help children to gather their thoughts, marshall their knowledge and use it well for better depth and thorough practice. This session acts as a useful ‘check-up from the neckup’ for all classroom practitioners who want to get more for their ask, when questioning pupils. The way we ask questions is as important as the questions themselves and this session helps every teacher look closely at what can make the difference. Colleagues will receive easy-to-use tips, nudges and prompts from the author of Active Questioning, a questioning resource which is already used in over 2,000 schools. This session would be suitable for support staff and less experienced teachers.
