The Wisbech-based school has been looking at different ways to support its families as the cost of living continues to rise. The new ‘Sharing Shed’ enables families to help themselves to items without having to worry or ask.

All items of clothing that make up the school’s uniform are displayed outside, with the shed opening daily for parents to collect clothing as-and-when they need it.  The school also has a well-supported foodbank and has added some of these provisions to the sharing shed, so that if a family is struggling, then they can take some groceries. 

Louise Tombleson, Inclusion Manager at Peckover School, shared her pride about the new addition to the school, saying: “We are a family at Peckover and we always think 'family' so we want to be there, to help every family at their time of need.”

“We know that it can often be difficult for parents to ask for help when they need it, but the sharing shed is discreet and anonymous which removes the potential for embarrassment. We want this to feel like a safe place for parents to use without any fear of judgement” she added.

Kate Kendal, Principal of Peckover Primary School said: “I’m immensely proud of our school community and the ‘sharing shed’ epitomises one of our ‘PROUD’ values about being ‘United’ and coming together when times are hard. I’m so grateful for the support of my wonderful team.”
