BWA teachers present fundraising cheque

Well done to Brooke Weston Academy teachers Ben Johnson and Roisin Fernando who have raised £5,500 for Anthony Nolan through a series of fundraising events.

Trust schools including Beanfield Primary, Oakley Vale and Gretton Primary also supported their fundraising, as did staff and students at Brooke Weston Academy.

A mufti day and the restaurant night at BWA were two of the events that helped boost the charity total. The couple also sold refreshments at this year’s Oliver production, sold raffle tickets, did a bingo night and were sponsored for the London Marathon which they successfully completed.

Roisin said: ‘I’d like to thank everyone that supported us including our primary schools. Beanfield did  a big bake sale which raised £600. Oakley Vale did a mufti day and Gretton did a run a mile event so all of those were a huge help and much appreciated. It was a big commitment, especially with the marathon training from Christmas to mid-April. The raffle was a big success as we had so many companies that donated prizes. We had planned to raise £3,600 so we are thrilled with the total.’

The couple with a cheque for the latest instalment in their charity total. This was raised during a very successful charity restaurant night at Brooke Weston Academy, when students prepared a three course meal for 50 with instruction from a team of chefs from the Tollemache Arms in Harrington.
