Student Lewis Gurney from Brooke Weston Academy is one of only eight talented young chefs to win a Gold Award in a national game cooking competition. As a prize he and the other finalists will take part in a cooking masterclass at the Michelin-starred Northcote Hotel in Lancashire with top chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen.

Brooke Weston Academy took a team of 12 Year 7 students to the district cycling event at Kettering Rugby Club. Students competed in sprints and long distance races around a track with many challenges from steep hills to sharp turns on mountain bikes.
The Brooke Weston Book Busters reading group came second in a national video competition posing as characters from the Carnegie shortlisted books.

To round off their National Walk to School week Year 6 students at Beanfield Primary lined the pavements with their hand-made road safety posters and chanted slogans at passing traffic to make them aware of the dangers of speeding or parking too close to the school.
Beanfield Primary School has raised more than £250 by running a health snack bar, as part of an ongoing initiative to raise money for Lakelands Hospice. It was just one of a series of events the school ran for National Walk to School Week and promoted healthy snacking as well as fundraising for Lakelands’ ‘Bright Sparks’ appeal.

Staff at Beanfield Primary School are pleased that interventions put in place to boost attendance are paying dividends. The school’s figure currently stands at over 97% with still a term to go before the trophy is awarded to the Trust primary with the best attendance figure.
