Brooke Weston Academy is again celebrating exceptional GCSE examination results. An impressive 84% of students achieved at least five A* to C graded GCSEs including English and mathematics; a significant increase on last year’s figure.

In each of the core subjects of English, maths, science and modern foreign languages, over 90% of students attained an A* to C grade. In English and mathematics, more than 80% of students made three or more levels of progress from their Key Stage 2 starting point; an impressive figure that is significantly above the national average. There were many outstanding individual performances; eight students secured ten A*/A grades and a further 18 achieved eight or more GCSEs at A*/A.

Special thanks go to all the staff at Brooke Weston whose daily dedication and relentless commitment has been pivotal to this success and finally to our parents who have been unstinting in supporting their children in achieving these excellent results.”

Corby Business Academy has recorded impressive pass rates of 90 per cent plus in a wide variety of subjects, including Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Sport, Textiles, Cambridge National Science and IGCSE English Language.

The results have also shown that the Academy's value added figures have risen meaning students have made better progress than previous year groups from their primary  Key Stage 2 results to their Year 11 GCSE results.

Executive Principal John Henrys said: "We are very pleased with the progress our students have made since their arrival here in Year 7… We have had fantastic results in a variety of subjects, including Business, Dance, Science, Textiles and Travel and Tourism…and a substantial number of students achieving the top grades of A* and A in their subjects. These results will allow a significant number of our students to go on to access A-Level studies at the Academy and we look forward to working with them in the Sixth Form."

Kettering Science Academy continues to improve its GCSE performance with a significant increase in the number of students making good levels of progress in English and maths. The Academy’s value added score has improved significantly.  The results reflect much improved teaching and learning and continue to place the Academy above the government’s floor target.

Top performers in their GCSE examinations for this year at KSA included one student who achieved 7A*s and 4As. He said: “I am really thrilled by my results, especially my grade for further maths. I am going on to sixth form.” Principal for KSA, Paul Davies said: “Our recent Ofsted Inspection in May highlighted the improvements which are taking place, particularly in the transformation of our culture, ethos and the quality of teaching at the Academy.  Our year 11 results reflect the judgements of the inspectors. We would like to thank all the students, parents and staff for their continuing support and hard work.”

Students at Thomas Clarkson Academy are celebrating GCSE success across a whole range of subjects. There were happy scenes at the academy this morning as students were rewarded with good grades for all their hard work.

Overall, results across the whole range of GCSE and BTEC qualifications has improved compared to last year with students’ average point score also improving. The academy also met the government’s new floor target for progress.

Principal Clare Claxton said: “As more of our students begin to believe they can achieve the highest grades, it is really heartening to see such a rise in students’ average point score across a range of qualifications. This is testament to the hard work of both staff and students.

“Alongside praise to the students I would like to publicly thank the staff, both teaching and non-teaching, for their efforts in helping students gain the best grades possible – everyone went ‘above and beyond’ and I cannot fault their commitment. I am so looking forward to September and the quest for even higher academic achievement in the forthcoming year.”
