Education Awards wins for BWT schools

TWO BWT schools were crowned winners in last night’s Education Awards.

The Unit team from Corby Business Academy and Beanfield Primary School each won one of the county’s highest awards for education.

The CBA team received the award for Specialist School or SEN Provision of the Year at the grand final of the 2016 Northamptonshire Education Awards which was held at Wicksteed Pavilion in Kettering.

Beanfield Primary School won the prestigious Community Award.

Beanfield’s safeguarding manager Sarah Fleming said: “"We are absolutely delighted to win the Community Award from the Northamptonshire Education Awards.  We have worked tirelessly over the years with the County Council, the local councillors and the residents to make the roads around our school site safe.  The installation of the Zebra Crossing plays a big part in keeping our children safe when crossing the road. This year throughout Road Safety Week and Walk to School Week our very own Beanfield Zebra was out helping children cross safely.  The Beanfield Zebra's were enjoyed by all and will continue now to be a Beanfield tradition.  We are pleased that not only does the new zebra crossing benefit the school users, it also benefits the community as a whole.  Recognition for our hard work has made our school very proud indeed".

The CBA unit team, which has also recently been rated Outstanding by Northamptonshire County Council for the second time in a row, received its award for enabling all its students to meet or exceed their targets.

Unit Assistant Manager Caren Brown said: “We are so thrilled to have won.  The awards ceremony was lovely and gave all our staff a boost.

“This is a fantastic way to end a year in which we have been rated Outstanding by the county council again.

“Each and every person in our team has contributed to its success.

“We are now really looking forward to welcoming new students in September.”

CBA Attendance, Welfare and Safeguarding Officer Elaine Pickford was a runner-up in the Unsung Hero category in recognition of her tireless efforts to look after our students’ well-being and support students and their families.

The awards were organised by the Northants Telegraph, the Northampton Chronicle & Echo and the Daventry Express.

The main sponsor of the event is the University of Northampton.
