Brooke Weston Trust's Sixth Form Success

Brooke Weston Trust schools have enjoyed another successful year of A-Level examination results.

Brooke Weston Academy is celebrating another positive year of A Level examination results, with 61% of all entries being graded at A* to B and 86% of grades A* to C. This is the fifth consecutive year where our Year 13 students have performed outstandingly well. Over 70% of the Year 13 cohort are moving on to University with the remainder opting for professional or vocational apprenticeships. A number of students have secured places at highly prestigious universities, including Imperial College London, Warwick University and St. Andrew’s University, with others securing apprenticeships at multinational companies, including Grant Thornton and KPMG.

At Kettering Science Academy the number of A*-B grades achieved by A Level students has almost doubled over the last two years with an equally impressive pass rate of 94% achieved across all examinations taken over the past year. Principal at Kettering Science Academy, Paul Davies said: “We are more than pleased by the A Level results and AS Level grades as well as the pass rate in the higher grades. We are also pleased to report that all our students know the next pathway they are embarking on, whether they are going to university, apprenticeships, employment or the armed forces.” One notable achiever, Fabien Sutton, who achieved A* in Maths and four A’s in the sciences has secured a place studying Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge.

Thomas Clarkson is celebrating the best results the school has ever seen, with 96% of entrants gaining A* to E grades. The Academy has also seen a nine per cent improvement in A*-C grades across both AS and A2, with the greatest gains in English, Maths and Science. Principal Clare Claxton said: “I am absolutely delighted that the majority of students have got the grades they need to get into university or further education. This reflects the hard work that the students have put in and the improving quality of teaching at Thomas Clarkson Academy.” One particularly impressive result was of 14-year-old Yousuf Bin-Suhayl who achieved ‘A’ grades in A Level Physics and Chemistry at the academy.

Corby Business Academy has achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate in all of the vocational qualifications it offers, including Business, English Literature, Art and Media with an overall pass rate of 90% across all qualifications offered at the academy. CBA Principal John Henrys commented “It’s very pleasing that we have further improved on last year’s results and we are delighted to have once again been very successful in Business.”

These results represent a very creditable performance for the Trust as a whole and, in the context of a more unpredictable examinations system this year, show that both staff and students have remained strongly focussed on their core business. These results reflect the dedication, hard work, aspiration and commitment of the students, the quality teaching of our staff and the continued support of our families. They have earned their success today and on behalf of everyone at Brooke Weston Trust, I would like to wish all students the best of luck for the future.
