Gemma Marks talks about new Teaching Hub at BWA

The Director of the Brooke Weston Teaching School Alliance, Gemma Marks, has featured on radio talking about the new Teaching Hub.

The Government announced last week that Brooke Weston Academy would host the new hub and Ms Marks was interviewed by Helen Blaby at BBC Radio Northampton.

She said: ‘We will be able to ensure that all schools have access to the best knowledge and expertise that leads to the best chances of improving the quality of education for our young people. Brooke Weston has a long established history of being a really successful school and … we were given National Teaching School status in 2011. Since then our teaching school has supported over 3,000 teachers so we are drawing on a good foundation.

‘It is a great thing for the school and Trust, but it is an even better thing for children across Northamptonshire. What our Teaching School Hub will do is bring together great local, regional and national partners to provide support and training for teachers at each of their career stages across Northamptonshire. That is making sure that every teacher has access to the highest quality teaching and leadership development … What the Teaching School Hub model does is replace the existing Teaching School network nationally with one Teaching School hub per geographical area … It makes sure that every school in the country has a clearly defined place, a centre of excellence for teacher training and development. It is about equity of access for all.’
