Oakley Vale hosts Trust maths and DT competitions
Oakley Vale Primary School hosted a primary Trust competition and collaboration day in maths and DT.
Four students from Years 1, 2 and 4 from each of our primary schools took part. The Year 4s completed math challenges, including a multiplication trail and used tangrams (Chinese puzzle shapes) to create Christmas themed pictures.
Years 1 and 2 students took part in the DT competition. They had five different Christmas challenges in teams and as individuals, including making a Christmas tree using sequence, making a cracker and designing and icing a Christmas biscuit.
Congratulations to Beanfield Primary who won the maths challenge and to Peckover Primary who won the DT competition.
Year 3 teacher Mrs Becky Annetts said, ‘We hold themed Trust days throughout the year at each of the five schools. It is a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively and each school to gets to know those from the other schools. There is a competitive element but it is a lot of fun as well.’
Year 4 student Danielle Mwarewangepo said ‘I like getting all of the Trust schools together because you get to know other people. Maths is one of my favourite subjects.’
