Mr Mike Green, the Director of Capital within the Education and Skills Funding Agency was the keynote speaker at The Trust Network's first national conference held at Corby Business Academy today.

Hundreds of delegates attended and most multi-academy Trusts in the country were represented.

Mr Green headed up a stellar cast of speakers including Bruce Crowther, ESFA Programme Director, Mark Wallbank from the DfE's Schools Commercial Team, Annie Shepperd OBE, CEO of Salix Finance, Stephen Morales, CEO of the NASBM, David Bentley from CIPFA Property and Toby Young, the Director of the New Schools Network.

They spoke on a range of topics including finance, procurement, energy efficiency and Free Schools and the focus was on sharing the latest information and best practice within their specialism.

Delegates were able to  visit 'Procurement Street', a dedicated zone where educational suppliers, organisations and advisers had trade stands and displays. In the afternoon delegates could attend a series of workshops on rotation. The event was a great opportunity to network and discuss topics relating to the effective management of school estates.

The Trust Network is a collaboration between Ormiston Academies Trust, Brooke Weston and Academies Enterprise Trust. It was formed to share expertise between Multi-Academy Trusts and since it started in 2014, it now has more than 100 members across the country.

A fuller report on the conference will be published soon.
