Gretton Primary School

Gretton Primary is a small village school which has a strong family feel. In March 2016 it was rated as Good with Outstanding features by Ofsted which highly praised its leadership, governance, early years provision and its focus on the personal development of every child.

The school, which is led by Principal Jane MacDonald, has undergone a major extension which has provided it with a new, state of the art hall and additional classrooms. The delightful grounds provide an exciting and stimulating environment including a trim trail, woodland storytelling and adventure area, canopied outdoor classroom, willow tunnels and garden plots, in which the children can enjoy their learning.

Gretton Primary believes that all children are individuals and every single child has their own strengths which the school helps them develop. All children are valued in the school, all efforts are celebrated with the result that children grow into confident individuals who value their own worth and are confident to go out into the world. The curriculum aims to develop children as self-motivated independent learners.

    Teaching Assistant Position

    Temporary appointment to cover long term sick leave

    Gretton Primary Academy is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and reliable Learning Support Assistant for 18 hours per week to join our vibrant and high performing village school. This is to cover the long term sick leave of a member of staff for at least 6 months.

    The role will focus on supporting the academic and social development of pupils. The successful candidate will work alongside the Year3/4 class teacher each morning to support the delivery of quality first teaching. The post holder will also be working with groups of children or individuals as directed by the class teacher to implement interventions to close gaps in learning and to enable all pupils to achieve their full potential. The role will also involve the preparation of resources to enhance learning and will require feedback of pupil progress and effective liaison with the class teacher.

    The right person for Gretton Primary Academy will:

    • Have experience of working as a learning support assistant with primary aged children.
    • Have an understanding of how children learn in a primary school.
    • Be a caring and patient person.
    • Have good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team
    • Have the ability to deal professionally and sensitively with children, parents and teachers and outside agencies as required.
    • Have a good level of English and Maths (preferably GCSE or equivalent).
    • Have a willingness to undertake further training as required.

    Hours per week / Weeks per year: 3 hours per day (15 hours per week) 10:30am - 1:30pm every day, 38 weeks per year - Term Time Only

    The Role

    The catering teams across a number of the schools are looking for individuals to join them in the kitchen. Applicants should be strong team players who can follow instructions well and have good communication skills. Successful candidates will contribute to the provision of an effective and smooth catering service

    Previous experience of working in a school environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.
