Gretton Primary School

Gretton is a small village school which has a strong family feel. In March 2016 it was rated as Good with Outstanding features by Ofsted which highly praised its leadership, governance, early years provision and its focus on the personal development of every child.

The school, which is led by Principal Jane MacDonald, has recently undergone a major extension which has provided it with a new, state of the art hall and additional classrooms. The delightful grounds in which the school is set, provide an exciting and stimulating environment including a trim trail woodland storytelling and adventure area, canopied outdoor classroom, willow tunnels and garden plots, in which the children can enjoy their learning.

Gretton Primary believes that all children are individuals and every single child has their own strengths which the school try to help them to develop. As such all children are valued in the school, all efforts are celebrated with the result that children grow into confident individuals who value their own worth and are confident to go out into the world. The curriculum aims to develop children as self-motivated independent learners.

    SEND Teaching Assistant

    Gretton Primary Academy  is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and reliable SEND Learning  Support Assistant for 9 hours per week to join our creative, vibrant and high performing village school.

    The position will include providing one-to-one support for 3 mornings a week for a pupil in Year 4 with Specific Learning Difficulties. The role will support the child’s academic development and learning needs within the classroom through 1:1 and small group work as directed by the Class Teacher and SENCo.

    The post holder will be expected to maintain working records and to effectively liaise and feedback progress to the Class Teacher and SENCo.

     9 hours per week: 9.00am to 12.00 for three mornings to be agree mutually. 

    This is a temporary position until 17th July 2020.

    The right person for Gretton Primary Academy will:

    • Be a caring and patient person.
    • Have experience of working with children with Special Needs (preferably Specific Learning Difficulties) in a school setting.
    • Have an understanding of how children learn in a primary school.
    • Have good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team
    • Have the ability to deal professionally and sensitively with children, parents, teachers and outside agencies as required.
    • Have a good level of English and Maths (preferably GCSE or equivalent).
    • Have a willingness to undertake further training as required.

    School Cleaner

    We are looking for a cleaner to work 11.25 hours per week supporting our existing cleaning team in ensuring that the school is clean and ready for the children and staff each day. The ideal candidate will be hard working, reliable and someone who enjoys working as part of a team.

    This position is part time, school term time plus 2 weeks during school holidays (40 weeks per year).

    Hours of work:                           3.15pm to 5.30pm Monday to Friday

    Hourly rate of pay:                    £8.35

    Gretton Primary Academy is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and reliable Business Administration Apprentice (Level 2) to join our creative, vibrant and high performing village school. 

    The role will support the administration team and operate a Reception Service, which promotes a professional image of the school, duties to include:

    • Processing telephone calls and ensuring appropriate action is taken.
    • Organising of stock and resources.
    • Ensure that face to face enquiries (visitors, students, parents and staff) are dealt with appropriately.
    • To undertake word processing of documentation (letters, reports, memos) including collation for documentation packs as required.
    • Preparation of teaching resources including photocopying and laminating.
    • Administering first aid for minor injuries.
    • Processing of the weekly school dinner orders (Excel spreadsheet).
    • To assist with the implementation of school administration policies, such as the student absence monitoring system. This could involve checking documents for errors, resolving queries and inputting of straightforward data on computer systems
    • To use the library system to support pupils in using the school library.
    • To carry out such other administrative tasks and duties as required by the line managers, appropriate to the grading of the post.

    The training provided will be the Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration and if not already acquired the Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT.
