 Corby Technical School is an Ofsted rated Outstanding school which was opened by the Brooke Weston Trust in 2012.  The school offers an academic curriculum that has a strong technical bias to suit those young people who have already shown a strong aptitude for and interest in technical subjects like engineering, electronics and computer programming. 

The school works in close partnership with local companies to offer significant elements of work experience relevant to students’ choice of career.  We ensure that our students are fully prepared to move into further study at university or in high-level apprenticeships in technical industries, including engineering, science, architecture and computing.

    About Corby Technical School and the DT Technician Role

    Corby Technical School is an outstanding free school (part of the Brooke Weston Trust) and we are seeking to appoint an Design & Technology workshop based Technician. The postholder will need to be energetic, enthusiastic, and inspirational with a strong commitment to working with young people in an educational setting. As a Design & Technology Technician, you will support the DT department in the preparation for lessons and assist with practical lessons when required. To assist teachers and support teaching and learning you will be required to work with small groups of students. An apprentice trained technician or craftsperson, who holds appropriate technical and vocational qualifications would, therefore, be most suitable for this post.

    The person appointed will demonstrate a good standard of education, and be able to communicate at all levels, with students, staff and parents.   The hours of work will be 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 3.30pm on Friday initially, but we reserve the right to vary hours and working days to meet operational needs.  This is a full-time contract with hours equating to 2 additional weeks to be worked flexibly across school holidays.

    Corby Technical School requires a suitably qualified and committed Level 2 Teaching Assistant to assist children with a variety of special educational needs in a mainstream school. The post holder will be expected to support students with a variety of needs including, language, physical and educational. The primary focus is to undertake educational activities with students within an agreed framework under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.  We would be delighted to receive applications from all candidates with a desire to work with young people including those who may have recently completed their A-level studies or degree course and are considering a future career in teaching.

    About Corby Technical School and the Attendance Administrator/Education Welfare Assistant

     

    Corby Technical School requires an efficient and self-motivated Attendance Administrator/Education Welfare Assistant to join our growing team. The post holder will be responsible for administering school attendance data and working alongside the Safeguarding Officers to improve outcomes for pupils. Candidates should have an understanding of the potential barriers to learning and attending school faced by children and young people and assist the Safeguarding Officers to design and implement plans for improvement.  The successful candidate will have experience of handling sensitive and often confidential information and have previous experience communicating with parents / carers and families as well as other agencies. Experience of working in the school environment is desirable but training and mentoring is available for the right candidate.

    About Corby Technical School and the HLTA Role

    Corby Technical School is a free school that opened in September 2012. The school was rated as Outstanding in our Ofsted inspection, and we are looking to employ a person who shares our aspirations for excellence. 

    We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and committed Level 6 signing HLTA to assist a child with a hearing disability in a mainstream school up to Key Stage 4.

    The successful candidate will provide specialist 1:1 support and facilitate learning for pupils with a Hearing impairment in school and provide advice on the impairment to school staff as well understanding the specific requirements of individual pupils, including the specialist equipment and communication approaches required by them. The candidate will monitor the learning environment, continually adapting support to meet changes throughout the school day, advising teaching staff of changes and enabling efficient delivery.  Being able to monitor the pupils sensory functioning and any changes that might indicate deterioration or problems with assistive technology is essential.  Other duties include delivering individual tutorials to pupils, potentially encompassing all areas of the curriculum, as well as specific specialist skills, enabling extension of class work as well as pre and post tutoring. In addition, supporting the pastoral care of pupils showing appropriate levels of sensitivity and confidentiality in matters of emotional needs and safeguarding issues as well as promoting inclusion and equality of opportunity in education for all pupils and carrying out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description and which are commensurate with the grade of the post. The candidate will foster student’s confidence, self-esteem and ambition to become independent inquirers and thinkers whilst ensuring that they promote an inclusive learning environment for all.

    About Corby Technical School and the HLTA Role

    Corby Technical School is a free school that opened in September 2012. The school was rated as Outstanding in our Ofsted inspection, and we are looking to employ a person who shares our aspirations for excellence.  We are seeking a suitably qualified and committed HLTA to assist children with a variety of special educational needs in a mainstream school. The post holder will be expected to support students with a variety of needs including, language, physical and educational. The primary focus is to undertake educational activities with groups and whole classes within an agreed framework under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.  We would be delighted to receive applications from all candidates with a desire to work with young people including those who may have recently completed their A-level studies or degree course and are considering a future career in teaching.

     

    The successful candidate will plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individuals, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary under the overall direction and supervision of a teacher.  This may be through the development of suitable differentiated materials; scaffolding questioning and tasks to promote success; supporting and challenging student behaviours and maintaining regular communication between school and home. The candidate will work with students that have Educational Health Care plan or with a high level of need, fostering student’s confidence, self-esteem and ambition to become independent inquirers and thinkers.  Additionally, supporting students in all four areas of need through the delivery of intervention programmes outside of the classroom where required. The candidate would be expected to contribute to the monitoring of SEND students to set clear ambitious targets for students to achieve and make progress personal and academic progress. The candidate will need to show the capacity to be an advocate for SEND students, ensuring that they promote an inclusive learning environment for all.

    • Work closely with colleagues across the School, building effective relationships with all staff and students.

    • Sound knowledge of general school procedures in order to contribute to effective running of school day and student experiences and also procedures to support child development.
    • Have good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
    • Have the ability to deal professionally and sensitively with children, parents and teachers and outside agencies as required.
    • Work with the utmost integrity and confidentiality.
