Kettering Science Academy

Kettering Science Academy boasts one of the most exceptional school buildings in North Northamptonshire. This building along with our dedicated staff and has given us the all of the raw materials we need to create an inspirational learning environment where every student is given the opportunity to succeed.

Our aim is to make learning exciting and enjoyable so that students can thrive and fulfil their potential - 'be the best you can be'. We offer a wide and varied curriculum covering enhancing the National Curriculum offer with a range of additional opportunities, putting particular emphasis on science and enterprise activities.

This emphasis, alongside extensive extracurricular activities, provides breadth and depth at all levels for our students. The opportunities we provide at KSA offer every student the skills and support that they need for the greatest chance of future success.

In 2020 the facilities we offer students at Kettering Science Academy were enhanced by the opening of our dedicated Sixth Form block.

    We have an exciting opportunity for a vibrant, qualified and committed teacher of German or French to join a dynamic, well-resourced, supportive and high performing MFL department. The department has a history of strong outcomes at GCSE especially in German and has consistently performed above national expectations.

    French and German are popular subjects at both Key Stage 3 and Key stage 4 as students are conscientious and motivated to learn a language.  Students are well behaved in lessons which allows students to learn in calm yet creative environment. So if you are an experienced teacher or an NQT and are passionate about delivering high quality language lessons we would welcome an application from you. 

    The successful candidate will:

    • Be able to teach German or French across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in teaching or equally someone with more experience within education looking for a new and exciting challenge.

    We require a self-motivated, flexible candidate to join a dynamic and enthusiastic team. Our Curriculum Officers are key members of our team. They make a valuable contribution across the academy ensuring that students continue to learn in a supported environment when a dedicated class teacher is unavailable for the period.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Supervise students on a lesson-by-lesson basis in departments across the Academy.
    • Ensure students remain on task and make progress during their lessons.
    • Assist students with their work, helping them understand tasks and supporting them in their learning.
    • Manage student behaviour and follow up on good and poor behaviour issues according to Academy procedures and policies.
    • Be available for tasks and deployment for such things as: accompanying Academy trips, workings with students with SEN, invigilating examinations, collecting and displaying work.
    • There may be a requirement to lead a tutor group.

    The Science department at KSA consists of specialists in all 3 of the sciences and supported by two full time technicians. Biology, Chemistry and Physics are supported by a head of subject and all led by a Head of Science. Science is taught in all key stages with a strong intake into the triple course at KS4 as well as into all three of the main sciences at KS5. We are ambitious for our learners and have achieved excellent outcomes to include entry into aspiration destinations which include: Oxford, Cambridge, and the Russell Group. We also have a number of students who are successful in their entry and completion of highly contested courses such as Medicine and Veterinary science, to name a few.

    In the role of Principals PA you will be delivering a comprehensive and confidential administrative service to the Principal, Senior Leadership team and Local Governing body.

    This is a dynamic fast paced role where you will provide effective and efficient support to the principal of the academy and provide excellent service to the overall running of the academy. You will also be liaising with parents, staff, governors, trustees and external agencies on behalf of the principal.

    What you'll need to succeed? We are looking for candidates who have strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, time management skills, strong organisational skills, ability to multi-task, with good attention to detail. You must be self-driven and passionate to join a team of dedicated support staff who are determined to work for the best possible outcomes for their students.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in teaching or equally someone with more experience within education looking for a new and exciting challenge.

    We require a self-motivated, flexible candidate to join a dynamic and enthusiastic team. Our Curriculum Officers are key members of our team. They make a valuable contribution across the academy ensuring that students continue to learn in a supported environment when a dedicated class teacher is unavailable for the period.

    The successful candidate will:

    • Supervise students on a lesson-by-lesson basis in departments across the Academy.
    • Ensure students remain on task and make progress during their lessons.
    • Assist students with their work, helping them understand tasks and supporting them in their learning.
    • Manage student behaviour and follow up on good and poor behaviour issues according to Academy procedures and policies.
    • Be available for tasks and deployment for such things as: accompanying Academy trips, workings with students with SEN, invigilating examinations, collecting and displaying work.
    • There may be a requirement to lead a tutor group.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate that they can be an effective team member and contribute to the continued growth and success of the department, inspiring and engaging students in their learning of English.
