Kettering Science Academy boasts one of the most exceptional school buildings in North Northamptonshire. This building along with our dedicated staff and has given us the all of the raw materials we need to create an inspirational learning environment where every student is given the opportunity to succeed.

Our aim is to make learning exciting and enjoyable so that students can thrive and fulfil their potential - 'be the best you can be'. We offer a wide and varied curriculum covering enhancing the National Curriculum offer with a range of additional opportunities, putting particular emphasis on science and enterprise activities.

This emphasis, alongside extensive extracurricular activities, provides breadth and depth at all levels for our students. The opportunities we provide at KSA offer every student the skills and support that they need for the greatest chance of future success.

In 2020 the facilities we offer students at Kettering Science Academy were enhanced by the opening of our dedicated Sixth Form block.

    Kettering Science Academy requires a Teaching Assistant Level 3, you will have expertise working with students with a range of special educational needs. The successful candidate will be required to work one-to-one, in small groups as well as supporting other students within the school. They will be a well-motivated and compassionate individual capable of working both as part of a bigger team and independently. The successful candidate will join a supportive and friendly team and be experienced in supporting the delivery of the curriculum.

    Kettering Science Academy requires a professional and self-motivated HR Administrator to join our business and finance team. The post holder will support all aspects of HR and recruitment processes at the Academy. The successful candidate will work with initiative and have previous experience administering HR information in a timely, accurate and confidential manner, have a high level of proficiency in Microsoft applications and have excellent interpersonal skills.  


    The successful candidate will:

    • work closely with the Principal and School Business Manager to ensure the Academy complies with all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks
    • be a first point of contact for all staff at the Academy in relation to HR and payroll queries
    • liaise with our HR service centre, Education Personnel Management
    • provide support to senior colleagues on a broad range of HR matters including, but not limited to, disciplinary, grievance and absence issues
    • manage the recruitment process for all new colleagues
    • develop and implement effective administration processes, maintaining accurate records

     

    The ideal candidate will possess:

    • up to date knowledge and understanding of HR best practice and procedures
    • relevant HR experience (ideally in an education setting)
    • confidence in the interpretation of policy and employment law and its application
    • excellent oral and written communication skills, with excellent interpersonal skills
    • a high level of diligence and attention for detail

    Head of Music

    We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and creative Head of Music to join the performing arts team at Kettering Science Academy. 

     

    The music department is at the beginning of a very exciting journey of development and expansion. We are now looking for the right Head of Music to join our enthusiastic and highly creative department, and to take the lead in ensuring the music department reaches its full and extensive potential.

     

    We are very blessed with physical resources: As well as a large collection of orchestral and pop instruments, we have a class set of keyboards, djembe drums and ukuleles, and also dedicated music technology suite. Our two main classrooms are varied and suitable for different activities; both within the core curriculum and for extracurricular opportunities. Our facilities are complimented by 4 purpose-built practice room spaces, each with instruments.  We have a fully equipped recording studio, specifically designed with recording opportunities in mind, as well as a trust appointed technician to support with technical elements within performing arts.

     

    Our students are enthusiastic, creative and always keen to participate in enrichment activities. Currently we support students in their pursuit of Music through a mixed music club (offering keyboard, choir and ukulele opportunities), a beginners and intermediate guitar club. Our BTEC Music students have regularly both organised and performed in concert opportunities as part of their studies and continue to do this in new and exciting ways in the current climate. We are looking to expand our current provision of extra-curricular opportunities for our students and develop the subject’s visibility across the Academy. 

     

    Working with our established Drama department, the Music department will be contributing to large scale performances across the year. The technology in the 450-seat purpose built main theatre is also of a high standard, meaning performances can be produced to a very good level, and enhanced effectively by lighting and visuals. The Brooke Weston Trust shared AV resources can also add to all performance opportunities for the students.

     

    The Brooke Weston Trust is committed to supporting the development of Arts subjects within their schools. There are two SLE Music leads within the trust who are available to offer support and guidance as well as providing opportunities for subject networking, combined performances, and extended Music CPD.

     

    The successful candidate will:

     

    · Be able to lead, manage and develop the curriculum of Music across the Academy.

    · Be able to set aims and objectives for the subject in consultation with the rest of the performing arts team and senior leaders.

    · Be a highly motivated individual and an enthusiastic teacher with the desire to inspire students to achieve, succeed and exceed in their learning of Music.

    · Have experience leading music across Key Stage 3 and KS4 Music GCSE or vocational qualifications.

    . Experience teaching at Key Stage 5 would be advantageous although not essential, however the ability to develop the curriculum to allow our students the ability to progress onto level 3 qualifications would be desirable.

    · Be able to run and develop a programme of enrichment activities in conjunction with other performing arts staff.

    · Organise regular opportunities for students both within the academy and in our local community.

    · Coordinate the weekly peripatetic lessons in cooperation with Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust.

    We’re on the lookout for an onsite Customer Support Engineer to join our team based from our Corby/Kettering school site.

    What we can offer you;

    • £20,000 - £25,000 depending on experience

    What's the purpose of the role?

    The Customer Support Engineer provides support to Managed Service customers. Our Managed Service customers includes establishments at all levels of education from Primary and Secondary schools through to Colleges and Learning Centres. This role covers a broad range of technologies including all on-premise, cloud wireless networking solutions and all technologies required to deliver teaching and learning.

    Customer Support Engineers need a strong customer focus, with a proactive approach to service delivery. The role’s main focus is to ensure that all support incidents are managed and progressed to resolution. This is to be done whilst ensuring customers are regularly updated of progress and that incidents are resolved in line with their service level agreement deadlines.

    What does the job entail?

    The duties are wide ranging, but ultimately involves;

    • Desktop Operating Systems inc. Microsoft, Apple, Android.
    • Desktop Support & Maintenance inc. PCs, Laptops, & Tablet devices.
    • Peripheral Support inc. Printing, Scanning, Web Cams, Interactive Screens, Projectors and Audio\Visual Equipment.
    • Support & Maintenance of Apple Products inc. iPads, MacBooks, MACs.
    • Cloud computing, productivity & collaboration tools. In particular Microsoft O365.
    • Effective use of communication tools, in particular E-mail & MS Teams.
    • Technical Problem Solving & Troubleshooting – diagnostic methodology.
    • Team working and collaboration at local and wider levels within an organisation.
    • Management & prioritisation of personal workload.

    What are we looking for?

    As the right candidate for the role, you will have some of the following skills:

    • Microsoft Products including Windows 10, Office Applications.
    • Knowledge of Cloud Platforms in particular Microsoft O365.
    • Apple Products including iPads, MACBooks, MACs.
    • Desktop & Mobile Device Support.
    • Microsoft Endpoint management – Microsoft Intune / Configuration manager.
    • Peripheral Device Support – interactive whiteboards, A/V etc.
    • Experience of setting up and supporting Print management solutions.
    • Image build and deployment tools.
    • Server Infrastructure knowledge.
    • Knowledge of Wireless systems.
    • Backup procedures and routines – cloud and on premise.
    • RM Software inc. CC4 desirable but not essential.
    • Anti-Virus solutions.
    • Awareness of MIS Solutions.
    • Excellent customer communication skills and able to communicate technical tasks to non-technical people.
