Welcome to the Brooke Weston Primary Training Hub. We are now into our third year of offering high quality professional development for primary teachers, senior leaders and support staff across our local area.

This comprehensive and innovative programme has been put together in response to the development needs of the primary schools across the Brooke Weston Trust. Other schools may well have similar development priorities, so we are inviting all schools in our local area to take advantage of this training and development to support their school improvement priorities.

The sessions will take place at our Primary Training Hub venue located within Oakley Vale Primary School. This venue is a tailor-made training room which can accommodate up to 24 delegates in comfort.

We hope that you will find the content of our courses relevant to your school improvement priorities and look forward to meeting you at a future training session.

The Primary Training Hub team

Primary Training Hub Leads

Jane MacDonald and Carrie Norman who are both experienced Head Teacher and Local Leaders of Education (LLEs), have developed this programme. Our training sessions are facilitated by experienced leaders across our Trust and enriched by regional and nationally recognised educationalists including subject association leads, lead Ofsted inspectors plus external consultants who work with the DFE.

Jane MacDonald - Director of primary training hub

I am proud to have worked in the Brooke Weston Trust since 2013. Having been the Principal at Gretton Primary Academy for over 8 years, I have now changed role so that I can focus more specifically on leading the Primary Training Hub. This will ensure that all staff in our schools have access to high quality professional development opportunities. I also Chair the steering group of the BWT Leadership Academy which delivers a programme to upskill leaders of the future within our Trust. I am delighted to be leading on the Primary Training Hub as I am passionate about staff development and understand the importance of high quality CPD - as reflected in the current EEF recommendations which state that "effective professional development offers a crucial tool to develop teaching quality and enhance children's outcomes in the classroom" EEF Oct 2021.

Carrie Norman - Director of Curriculum and Teaching Pedagogy BWT

I am proud to be Director of School Improvement for the Brooke Weston Trust. It is an exciting role in which I have the privilege of working with leaders and teachers across the Trust Primary Schools to develop our curriculum and pedagogy, all based on cognitive science and the latest research evidence.

I am also a visiting fellow for Ambition Institute and have delivered the excellent, 'National Professional Qualification for Leading teacher Development'. Formerly, I was Principal at Peckover Primary School for 10 years and led the school to success in an area with a challenging context. I was a leading teacher for EAL and mathematics for the Cambridgeshire LA. I am excited to be a part of the team of the Brooke Weston Trust Primary Training Hub and build upon the success of our first two years.
