Governance

Brooke Weston Trust is a company limited by guarantee and a charitable trust. In a Multi-Academy Trust, a single Trust is responsible for a number of academies.

The members are akin to the shareholders of a company. They have ultimate control over the academy trust, with the ability to appoint some of the trustees and the right to amend the trust’s articles of association.

The Board of Directors governs the academies within the Trust and is ultimately accountable for the funds granted for the provision of education, as set out in the Articles of Association. Directors are also known as Trustees.

At Brooke Weston Trust, we place great importance on strong governance as a key driver in raising school standards and ensuring the effective operation of our academies. Our members, trustees and local governors play a vital role in providing strategic leadership, robust management, and accountability across the Trust. They bring a wealth of experience and expertise, which helps to drive continuous improvement and raise educational outcomes.

Much of the work of the Board is delegated to committees as outlined in the Brooke Weston Trust Scheme of Delegation. The relationship between these committees is one of collaboration to achieve our common goal of ensuring that no child is left behind and they get their 'ticket for life'.
