At Brooke Weston Trust, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we are fully committed to promoting the safety and wellbeing of every child across our schools. We work proactively to ensure that all children feel safe, valued and supported, both in school and beyond, including online.

Our Approach to Safeguarding

We place children at the centre of everything we do. We believe every child should be protected equally, regardless of their background, circumstances or needs, and we are committed to listening to and respecting their voices. Across our Trust, our schools create safe, welcoming environments where pupils can learn, grow and thrive, supported by staff who understand their responsibilities and are dedicated to keeping children safe.

This commitment is underpinned by clear and robust processes. We follow all national guidance and best practice, ensuring consistent safeguarding standards across all of our schools. This includes safer recruitment procedures to ensure all staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children, alongside regular safeguarding training so staff can recognise and respond to concerns quickly and effectively. Each school has dedicated safeguarding teams, including Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and Deputies, who are highly trained to provide expert support and guidance.

We work closely in partnership with parents, carers and external agencies to ensure that every child receives the care, protection and support they need. Through this collaborative approach, we are able to identify concerns early, respond effectively and provide the right support for each individual child.

Please report any concerns to a Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.

More information about the safeguarding teams in each of our Trust schools can be found within our full policy here.

All Trust schools are part of Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass is a partnership between police and schools, through which schools are notified of incidents of domestic abuse which may have had an impact on a child or children attending the school.

Safeguarding teams use this information to ensure that students are closely monitored and to implement support, where appropriate.

More information about Operation Encompass can be found here.

BWT operates a Safeguarding Review Group (SRG).
