Safeguarding

Safeguarding in education logoAt Brooke Weston Trust, safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We are committed to promoting the safety and wellbeing of our children. We have a clear Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy to make sure every child feels safe and supported.

Our Commitment:

  • Protecting Children: We work hard to keep children safe from harm, in school, in the community and online.
  • Safe Environment: We create a welcoming and secure environment where all children can learn and grow.
  • Everyone’s Responsibility: All our staff, governors and visitors understand their roles and responsibilities and are committed to keeping children safe.
  • Following Guidance: We follow all national guidance and best practice to promote the safety, welfare and wellbeing of our students.

Our Principles

  • Child-Centred: We always put the needs and safety of our children first.
  • Equal Protection: Every child is protected, irrespective of their background, circumstances or needs.
  • Listening to Children: We make sure children’s voices are heard and respected.

How We Keep Children Safe

  • Safer Recruitment: We carefully check the backgrounds and suitability of all staff and volunteers.
  • Training: Our staff and volunteers are trained to recognise and report any concerns about a child’s safety or welfare.
  • Support: We have dedicated and experienced safeguarding teams (DSLs and DDSLs) who are highly trained to provide support and advice.
  • Working Together: We collaborate with parents and external agencies to ensure the best care for our children.

Please report any concerns to a Designated Safeguarding Lead or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.

All Trust schools are part of Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass is a partnership between police and schools, through which schools are notified of incidents of domestic abuse which may have had an impact on a child or children attending the school.

Safeguarding teams use this information to ensure that students are closely monitored and to implement support, where appropriate.

More information about Operation Encompass can be found here.
